Tsukiji fish market / 築地

I woke up at 5 am this morning to give Tsukiji fish market tour to three Americans.

今朝は朝の５時起きで築地市場のツアーをやった。
お客さんは三人のアメリカ人。一人はニューヨークから来ていて、もう二人はピッツバーグから来ていた。

Tsukji inner market was closed, but some stores and restaurant that are in outer market were open. We had little bit of seafood for breakfast.

残念ながら築地市場はお休みでした。でも場外のいくつかのお店は開いていたので簡単なシーフードの朝食。

After Tsukiji, we visited Hamarikyu Garden for some mattcha and Wagashi.

築地の後は浜離宮公園で抹茶と和菓子を楽しんだ。

The ferry ride from Hamarikyu Garden to Asakusa was lovely!

浜離宮公園から浅草までは水上バスを利用。天気が良くてとても気持ちがよかった。

Kite day! / 凧揚げ

Mia kept asking me to get a kite for her after she saw a boy flying a kite at Yoyogi park.

娘に凧揚げをしている子供を代々木公園で見かけた時に凧が欲しいとおねだりされた。

I knew she will destroy a kite right away, so I finally found a kite at 100 yen shop.

まだ二歳児なので、きっとすぐに壊されると思い、100円ショップで凧を探したら発見！

We visited a park as soon as we got a kite.

凧を買ったら公園に直行！

It was a cheap kite, but we were able to fly it in the air alright.

すぐに組み立て、ちゃんと凧を空に飛ばせた。100円だったけど、すごいじゃない！

Flying a kite made me to miss being a kid again.

子供の時に凧揚げしたのが最後だったので、子供時代が懐かしく思えた。

Purple sweet potato waffle / 紫芋ワッフル

Purple sweet potatoes are in season right now in Japan.

紫芋のシーズンがやってきました。

I could not resist eating a purple sweet potato waffle (Murasaki Imo) at Mr. Waffle in Shinjuku.

新宿のMr. Waffleで紫芋のワッフルを発見！もちろん購入してしまった。

It was fresh, sweet and there were little chunks of purple sweet potatoes inside.

出来立てで甘くて小さく切られた紫芋がワッフルの中でゴロゴロしていた。

The cost was 162 yen including tax.

一つ税込で162円。

I think I want to try a different waffle there next time.

次回は違うワッフルに挑戦したいなぁ〜

Harajuku, Omotesando, Shibuya and Ebisu tour / 原宿-表参道-渋谷-恵比寿ツアー

I gave an evening tour of Harajuku, Omotesando, Shibuya and Ebisu to an Indian guy from San Francisco.

久しぶりに原宿、表参道、渋谷と恵比寿の夜のツアー。
今回の人はサンフランシスコに在住のインド人。

He wanted to see art and architecture in Tokyo which was quite unusual, but I became excited because art and architecture are my favourite things.

珍しくアートと建築を見たいとお客さんからのリクエスト。私は、びっくりするやら、嬉しいやら•••


We met at Kiddy Land at 6PM and walked to Takeshita street to see young Japanese girls.

原宿のKiddy Landで１８時に会って竹下通りへ。


We walked to Omotesando Hills to see Tadao Ando's architecture.

その後は安藤さんの建築物を見に表参道ヒルズに行った。

After that I took him to Aoyama to experience Prada by Herzog & de Meuron.

安藤さんの建築の後はもちろん青山のプラダでヘルツォーク&ド・ムーロン。

I felt lucky that COMME des GARÇONS was still open, so we took the opportunity to see their new outfits for this fall.

コムデギャルソンがまだ開いていたのでコムデギャルソンで服を見学。

We walked to United Nation University, then we saw Taro Okamoto's sculpture.

その後は国連大学の側にある岡本太郎の彫刻を鑑賞。

Since Nonbei Yokocho was on the way to get to the scramble crossing, we walked through Nonbei Yokocho quickly to see tiny bars.

渋谷駅に行く途中にあるのんべい横町をちょっとだけ見た。

We needed some break from a long walk; we sat on the 2nd floor of Starbucks in front of the scramble crossing and I had some caramel pudding frappuccino.

いっぱい歩いて疲れたのでスクランブル交差点のスタバでキャラメルプディングフラペチーノで休憩。


We said hello to Hachiko statue at Shibuya station, saw a big painting of Taro Okamoto, then took JR to visit Ebisu for frozen sake at buri and lovely yuzushio tsukemen at Afuri.

渋谷駅にあるハチ公にこんばんはをして渋谷駅の二階にある大きな岡本太郎の絵画を見てから山手線で恵比寿へ。

恵比寿にあるフローズンのお酒でテレビでも話題になっていたバーのburiで初めてのフローズンのお酒を飲み、そしてゆず塩ラーメンで有名なAfuriでゆず塩つけ麺を楽しんだ。


The yuzushio tsukemen was the perfect way to end my tour!

最後のAfuriのゆず塩つけ麺の締めが良かったなぁ〜

Hikawa shrine festival / 氷川神社のお祭り

While Mia and I were taking a walk in Mejiro, we saw a festival on Mejiro street.

目白を娘と散歩していたら、たまたま氷川神社のお祭りに遭遇。

Since Mia loves festivals, we decided to visit the festival.

娘は御神輿や山車を見るのが大好き。もちろん見に行こうとせがまれ、祭りに足を運んだ。

It was a perfect timing to be there because they were about to start pulling the dashi. I rented the happi from a festival staff for Mia, then we joined the event to pull the dashi.

そしたらなんとタイミング良く子供達の山車引きがちょうど始まるところだったので、受付で娘用のハッピを借りて山車引きに参加した。

I think the best part of pulling the dashi is getting free snacks, drinks and sweets. We got some juice, a slice of water melon, popsicles and soda every time we stopped somewhere for a break. When we finished pulling the dashi, they gave us a bag of snacks, sweets, juice and a pear to enjoy at home.

休憩ごとにもらえるお菓子やジュースはやっぱり何歳になっても嬉しい。

This experience made me to think about how I used to love pulling a dashi and getting free snacks and sweets as a child. I thanked Mia that I got to do it again!

山車を引く子供達を見ながら、そういえば私も子供の頃にお菓子が欲しくてよく山車を引いたなぁ〜なんて考えて懐かしくなった。

Stunning Bonseki at Mejiro Garden

目白庭園の盆石は毎月違った物が展示されているとか。来月も実に行きたいと思った。


I have been eating a lot of rice crackers that I won from Yuki no Yado.

懸賞で当たった雪の宿。抹茶味とカスタード味を初めて食べた。うーん。いつも食べている普通の雪の宿が一番美味しい気がするのは私だけ？


Lancome O d'Azur Eau De
This perfume was a gift and it is the only perfume at this moment. After I got pregnant, I became very sensitive to smell that made me not being able to wear any perfume. Also I moved a few time during and after my pregnancy, so I had to get rid of my other perfume.
I find this is a good perfume to wear during summer time because the smell is sweet, rosy and citrusy.

友達からもらった唯一持っているランコムの香水。甘いふんわりとしたローズとシトラスの夏っぽい香り。

Easy creamy gorgonzola pasta / 簡単! クリーミーなゴルゴンゾーラのパスタ

I never liked the taste of gorgonzola until I had it in my pasta.
When gorgonzola is on sale at Seijyo Ishii grocery store, I make this easy creamy gorgonzola pasta.

青カビの臭いチーズがゴルゴンゾーラ。
この青カビのチーズをパスタに入れて食べるまでは美味しいチーズなんて一回も思わなかった。
ゴルゴンゾーラが成城石井のスーパーで安くなっていると、つい作ってしまう超簡単パスタ。

Ingredients are listed below.
下記が材料。

Heavy cream or soy milk / 生クリームまたは豆乳

Gorgonzola cheese / ゴルゴンゾーラ

Pasta / パスタ

Black peppers / 黒胡椒

Cook whatever pasta that you want to use.
Cut gorgonzola into small pieces.
Heat up heavy cream or soy milk in a pan, then add gorgonzola and mix it until gorgonzola melt.
Add the pasta into the sauce and mix them well.
Transfer Easy creamy gorgonzola pasta into a dish; put some black peppers right before you eat.
I do not add any salt in this pasta because gorgonzola is salty enough.

好きなパスタを茹でておく。
ゴルゴンゾーラを小さく目に包丁で切る。
フライパンに生クリームまたは豆乳を温めてゴルゴンゾーラを加えてチーズをかき混ぜながら溶かす。
出来上がったパスタをお皿に移して、食べる直前に黒胡椒をふる。
ゴルゴンゾーラに塩分が含まれているので私はこのパスタには塩は加えません。
